Vivid tales of riches, wars, and heroes have always been linked with Asia's legend-steeped Silk Road. You, too, can create your own fabulous story as you follow the route of Marco Polo's epic adventure. From Urumqi, our 14 day tour spans China's Silk Road eastbound to Xian, the ancient starting point of the great trade caravans. You' will take the traditional route across western China, stopping at way stations lining the age-old routes : Dunhuang, where the greatest repository of Chinese Buddhist cave art resides, Mogao Grottoes, know as the world greatest treasure-house, which contain some 45,000 square meters of Murals and more than 2,000 painted sculptures. Then, it's off across the Gebi Desert to meet the western end of the Great Wall. You will stop at Turpan, s sleepy Uygur Silk Road oasis; and at Kashgar which was the capital of the Shule State 2,000 years ago. From here you can reach Pakistan on a Highway. Sep 12. West Coast/Xian
Your journey to China begins when you board today’s overnight flight to Xian.

Sep 13. Arrive Xian (D)
Arrive in Beijing at 12:30PM and transfer to the deluxe Sheraton Xian Hotel.
Enjoy the city tour of the ancient City Wall.

Sep 14. Xian (AB/L/SD)
A full day excursion to the world famous tomb of the Emperor Qin Shi Huang, guarded by the famous Terra-catta Army, 7000 life-size clay statues, each individually crafted, complete with chariots and horses. Back to the city, you will visit the Bid Wild Goose Pagoda and the ancient City Wall. Attend the Tang Dynasty Show after the local Dumpling Dinner tonight.Sep 15. Xian/Urumqi (AB/L/D)
In the morning, visit the Shanxi Provincial Museum. Fly to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, China’s huge western province. Upon arrival, transfer to the deluxe hotel.

Sep 16. Urumqi/Kashgar (AB/L/D)
The highlight of the visit to Urumqi is an excursion to Heaven’s Lake. Only an hour’s drive from the city, it lies on snow-capped Mount Bogda at almost 2000 metres above sea level. The views
from the cruise boat are breath taking. In the evening, take a short flight to Kashgar.

Sep 17. Kashgar (AB/L/D)
Kashgar is a fabled city embracing a rich mix of peoples and cultures, with Mosques and veiled women contributing to its Middle Eastern atmosphere. In the morning, you visit the a school and a workshop where traditional carpets are made. You also tour in a donkey cart taxi the Old Town, a warren of twisting alleys and white-washed walls, and the Tomb of Abakh Khoja.

Sep 18. Kashgar/Urumqi (AB/L/D)
No visitors to Kashgar should miss the Sunday bazaar. In the teeming market, you can buy anything from herbal medicines to carpets, from a cradle to a camel. In the afternoon, visit the town center the vast Id Kah Mosque. In the evening, fly back to Urumqi.

Sep 19. Urumqi/Turpan (AB/L/D)
This morning is spent in the Nanshan Pastures, you have the opportunity to visit a family in their tent for a taste of traditional nomadic hospitality. A short coach journey takes you to the oasis town of Turpan, famous for its melons and vineyards. Here Marco Polo first encountered spaghetti, an idea he took home to Italy.

Sep 20. Turpan (AB/L/D)
Today’s tour includes morning visits to the ruined city Gaochang, Bezeklik Caves whose walls are adorned with Buddhist frescoes and the legendary Flaming Mountains. You call in at Grape Valley where you can sample the grapes which Turpan used to ship to the Emperor’s courts in Beijing. In the afternoon, you winder through the streets of ruined city Jiaohe, inspect the 2000 year old karez water channels, a remarkable underground irrigation system and also see Emin Minaret, one of the finest buildings on the Silk Road. Take an overnight train to Dunhuang via Liuyuan.

Sep 21. Dunhuang (AB/L/D)
Dunhuang oasis was a strategic staging post on the Silk Road, and the end of the Great Wall. A
leisurely day includes visits to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Moon Lake set in an amphitheater of sand dunes. In the evening, you sample a local snack and a drink at the pavement cafes in the main street.

Sep 22. Dunhuang (AB/L/D)
Today’s highlight is to tour the Mogao Caves, popularly known as the “Thousand Buddha Caves”. An art gallery in the desert, the walls of the caves lined with Buddha frescoes and sculpted figures, said to be the finest examples of Buddha art in the world. Mixing India and Chinese styles, they are a remarkable record of Silk Road civilization.

Sep 23. Dunhuang/Lanzhou (AB/L/D)
Fly to Lanzhou on the banks of the Yellow River and transfer to the deluxe hotel. A city tour takes you to the White Pagoda Hill with its many pavilions offering views of the Yellow River and the city below

Sep 24. Lanzhou (AB/L/D)
Take a full day excursion to Binglingsi to visit the grottoes then come back to Lanzhou in
the afternoon. Sep 25. Lanzhou/Shanghai (AB/L/HD)
Fly to Shanghai and transfer to the deluxe Shanghai Jianguo Hotel. Free to explore at will in the afternoon. Enjoy the Farewell Dinner at your hotel tonight.

Sep 26. Shanghai/West Coast (AB)
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight back to U.S.A.

Terms and Conditions

1. deposit

The deposit ( $300.00) is required after filling out the reservation form attached below. There is a USD 100 non-refunable as handling fee if the participant wants to cancle the booking.

2. PAYMENT

The final payment is due 45 days prior to departure. Payment shall be made in US, check payment only, no credit will be accepted.

3. CANCELLATON

In case of cancellation fees will be charged as follow: The amount of cancellation fees depends on the day of receipt of the written cancellation to Eastern Travel:

15 to 44days before arrival date - 20% of tour price
7 to 14 days before arrival date - 30% of tour price
2-6 days before arrival date - 80% of tour price
24 hours - 100% of tour price

5. WARRANTY

Eeastern Travel is not liable for any injury, loss or damage the traveler suffers during in connection with the journey, nor for itinerary modifications due to circumstances beyond its' control.

6. Tour program
No participant is allowed to request to change to the tour program for personal reason. In case the participant decides to drop the tour and go back to home earlier than the scheduled departure, no refund will be given for unsued portion. IF that happens in somewhere other than gateway city, participant should provide his/her transportation back to gateway city.
